OUR PROGRAMMES

South West Development Football delivers a structured player development programme, providing additional coaching alongside players current clubs, competitive opportunities and pathways for young footballers across the South West. Our programmes complement existing club football, combining individual player development with exposure to higher-level environments.

Player Development Camps

Our training camps provide a structured, high-performance environment focused on developing players across the technical, tactical and physical aspects of the game. Sessions include position-specific coaching, individual technical development, tactical practices, physical performance work and competitive match scenarios. Players are challenged to improve their decision-making, creativity, confidence and overall game understanding.

Academy Scouting & Player Identification

We provide opportunities for players to gain exposure to professional academy recruitment networks through selected training camps, showcase events and fixtures. Our player identification process focuses on recognising individual potential and creating appropriate opportunities for further assessment within professional club environments. All academy opportunities are subject to player performance, suitability and individual club recruitment decisions.

Academy & Development Fixtures

Selected squads have opportunities to compete against professional academies and high-level development teams. These fixtures give players experience of increased playing intensity, tactical demands and competitive standards. Squads are selected through ongoing player assessment, with fixtures forming an important part of our development and identification pathway.

International Tournament Programme

Our international programme gives selected players opportunities to compete in established youth football tournaments, including the Gothia Cup and IberCup. Players experience international opposition, different tactical approaches and competitive tournament environments. Alongside football development, international tournaments support independence, professionalism, teamwork and personal growth.

Individual Player Profiling & Progress Tracking

Our player development process includes individual player profiles and ongoing performance monitoring across four key areas: technical (ball mastery, passing, receiving, finishing and individual execution), tactical (positioning, game understanding, decision-making and awareness), physical (speed, agility, coordination and athletic development) and psychological (confidence, resilience, communication and attitude). Player profiles help our coaching staff identify individual strengths, monitor progress and set development priorities.

Player Pathways & Progression

Our programme aims to create opportunities for players to progress within football through continued development, competitive exposure and access to wider football networks. Pathway opportunities include professional academy identification, selected development squads, international tournaments and post-16 football opportunities, including potential routes into UK and overseas programmes. Our focus is on giving players the environment, experience and support to maximise their individual potential.
